(SAVANNAH, GA) The Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity received an $8,000 donation from Roto-Rooter Plumbers of Savannah in support of the organization’s mission to provide local low-income families with affordable homes and build the foundations for better lives.

The donation was raised through the second annual Roto-Rooter Royal Flush Casino Night™, held earlier this year at Savannah Station. With nearly 200 attendees, guests had the opportunity to “go all-in” for Habitat for Humanity as they placed “funny-money” bets and purchased additional game chips throughout the evening.

Outside of the nearly completed Women Build House on 55th Street, Sherry Daniel, Owner of Roto-Rooter Plumbers of Savannah, presented the donation to Jamie Walker, Interim Executive Director, and Jed Young, the Board Chair of Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity.

“Standing outside the Women Build house now, I am amazed at how quickly this project went from its foundation to its final stages,” said Daniel. “Habitat for Humanity’s dedication and perseverance through the pandemic and all of its challenges is just one of the reasons that we at Roto-Rooter are so proud to contribute to its success. We understand the need to keep serving–to do what’s essential for the community no matter the circumstances–because we, too, believe that everyone deserves for their home to be their haven.”

Women Build is an international event held annually each March designed to empower women to serve their communities by learning how to build and construct a home. This year’s local Women Build took place over two weeks, from Wednesday, March 4 through Saturday, March 14.

The Women Build house is one of seven houses the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate has planned for 2020, and this donation from the proceeds of the second annual Roto-Rooter Royal Flush Casino Night™ will directly contribute to the organization’s goal of raising over $400,000 in private donations for this new construction through the Building Futures 2020 Campaign.

The second annual Roto-Rooter Royal Flush Casino Night™ was hosted by Roto-Rooter Plumbers of Savannah and welcomed support and casino table sponsorships from BB&T Scott & Stringfellow, Sandpiper Supply, Inc., Queensborough National Bank & Trust, Renfroe Outdoor Advertising, Corporate Messaging Services, R.W. Allen Construction LLC, Port City Logistics, Terracon Consultants, Inc., Momentum Resources, Sterling Seacrest Partners, Inc., Advanced Business Software Corp., Regions Bank, HunterMaclean, Cumulus Broadcasting, Ferguson, International Diamond Center, Shot by Somi Studios and the Grand Lake Club at Southbridge.

“We all know quite a bit more about the importance of having a comfortable place to call home after these last few months spent largely sheltering in place,” said Walker. “So you can imagine the need that exists in our community for the families who have had to go without that basic security. We are so grateful to Roto-Rooter Plumbers of Savannah for hosting the Royal Flush Casino Night in our honor. A home is something that many of us take for granted, but this donation will help us build that into a reality for local families.”
